About Doolittle Tokyo Raider Scholarship Fund

Applications must be forwarded to the Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) where a CFT Trustee-approved selection committee will screen them and make the decision by consensus in accordance with the criteria.

The scholarship may be used for tuition, laboratory fees, books, academic fees, room and board only at an accredited college or university in the U.S. or its possessions. The scholarship monies will be sent directly to the college or university. Any unused portion of the annual award will be returned for redeposit in the Fund.

Once the student accepts a scholarship, he/she must maintain a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale and successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours each semester. The student must keep CFT informed of any changes in address and send certified transcripts showing courses, hours taken and grades received as they become available. Failure to complete either or these requirements may result in loss of the scholarship.

The CFT is a designated Fund under the ultimate control of the CFT Board of Trustees and is operated in compliance with IRS and U.S. Treasury regulations to assure that the Fund is a component of a public charity and not a private foundation. CFT professionally manages more than 700 component funds which are invested in a tailored portfolio that produces funds for asset growth and security of principal.

The Raiders are establishing the scholarship fund with an initial amount which will be invested by CFT and only the income will be available for distribution. The net income, less fund expenses, shall be available to cover the cost of operations of the Foundation and to build the Foundation’s capacity to make unrestricted distributions.
